Troubleshooting
Upload failed, or "Could not extract enough text"
Usually a scanned or image-only PDF. Paste the text, or save the résumé as a text-based PDF or .docx.

"Could not extract enough text from the file"
The file has no text we can read. This almost always means a scanned résumé, or a PDF exported as an image. We don't read text out of images.
Check: open the PDF and try to select a word. If you can't, it's an image.
Fix — any of these:
- Paste the text into the box under "Or paste manually".
- Open the original document (Word, Google Docs, Pages) and export it again as PDF or .docx.
- If you only have the scan, retype it or use a text-recognition tool, check the result carefully, then paste it.
"Unsupported file type"
Use PDF, Word (.docx) or plain text (.txt). Save older .doc files as .docx first.
"Refinement failed"
Press Retry. Refining needs at least 120 characters of real text; a very short paste or an image-only file will fail.
