What "Refine" does to your résumé
Refine organises your résumé into a structured master record. It keeps every role and never invents numbers.
Updated September 19, 2026
Refining turns the raw text of a résumé into a clean, structured master record — the version the optimiser, Auto Apply, the Interview Coach and Live Interview Assist all read from.
What it keeps
Every role, employer, title, date, degree, certification and bullet, as you wrote them. It is an organising job, not a rewriting job, and it never invents or estimates a number.
What it adds
- Dates in one consistent format.
- A neutral summary that is not aimed at any one job.
- A skills list drawn from what is already there.
- Notes on bullets that could use a number, so you know where to strengthen it yourself.
How to run it
Press Refine on a card in the Résumé Bank. The badge moves from Pending to Refining… to Refined, usually in under a minute. Refining does not use credits.
Only refined résumés can be previewed, downloaded, used with Use for Job, imported into the optimiser, or used for batch optimisation.
If it says Failed
Press Retry. If it fails again, check the résumé has at least 120 characters of real text — a scanned PDF will not refine. Troubleshooting uploads
