Live Interview Assist

Check the sound before the call

A nine-second check on the setup screen that shows whether JobMatch hears the interviewer and hears you.

Updated October 16, 2026

Hearing the interviewer is the most fragile step. The meeting may be playing to a headset that isn't your computer's default output, a tab may have been shared without its audio, or the output may be muted. The Sound check on the setup screen of Live Interview finds that out before the call instead of during it.

How it works

Press Run it and speak a sentence while it runs. It listens for nine seconds and shows two meters:

  • The interviewer. In the desktop app this is your speakers: JobMatch plays a soft chime and listens for it, so you get a measured answer rather than a guess. In a browser it is the shared tab, so share the meeting tab with its audio and play something in it, or join the call.
  • You. Your microphone.

What it tells you

If both are heard, it says so and you are ready. If the interviewer is silent, it tells you what to change: in the desktop app, set the meeting app's speaker or headset to the same device as the system default and check the volume; in a browser, share the tab again and tick Also share tab audio. If your microphone was quiet, it says to check the input. If your microphone also picks up your speakers, wear headphones so the interviewer's voice isn't mistaken for yours. Press Again after a change.

Nothing is recorded or sent. The audio stays in the page and is dropped when the check ends. Letting it hear the interviewer
