The human-voice check on cover letters
A code check that catches the tells of machine-written letters, with one automatic repair.
Updated September 19, 2026
Hiring managers can spot a template letter in one line. After a letter is written, code checks it for the usual signs:
- a length well outside the normal range;
- sentences that are all the same length, and no short ones;
- stock phrases and superlatives;
- bullet points, or too few or too many paragraphs;
- too few concrete figures or terms from the role;
- template openers such as "I am writing to…".
If the letter falls short, one repair pass rewrites the flagged parts, and the repair is kept only if it scores better.
The check makes a letter read less like a machine wrote it. It is not a promise about any "AI detector", and it is no substitute for reading the letter yourself and making it sound like you.
