Writing a cover letter
Generate a letter from your tailored résumé and the posting. Every fact about you comes from your résumé.
Updated September 19, 2026
Where
On the last step of Optimize, press Generate cover letter. It is written from your optimised résumé and the job description, so optimise first. Batch optimisation can also write letters for each job.
What you get
- A letter of four paragraphs, roughly 250–400 words.
- A short version of about 90–130 words, for an email or a LinkedIn message.
What it will and won't say
Every fact about you comes from your résumé — no invented numbers, employers, projects, tools, certifications or achievements. What it says about the company comes only from the posting, so it won't gush about a mission it knows nothing about.
Cost
Each Generate or Regenerate costs 0.5 credits. If writing fails or times out, it is refunded automatically. It usually takes a minute or so.
After it's written, the letter goes through a human-voice check, and you can edit and download it.
